Dr. Donna Kentros is originally from Monroeville, Alabama and graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. She received a Masters in Science Education degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham and her MD degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine. She completed a pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and is board certified in Pediatrics in 1988 and 1995. After returning to Birmingham in 1987, Dr. Kentros has been involved in many areas of medical care, including private pediatric practice, medical coordinator and consultant for the Altamont School, Science Department Chairman at the Altamont School, and teaching AP Chemistry, Lab Techniques, Biology and Physics at the Altamont School, being awarded the American Chemical Society Alabama Teacher of the Year in 2012. She has also worked as a mobile physician for CenseoHealth.
Dr. Kentros is a wife and mother of three. She has a very medically active family. Her husband is an Anesthesiologist, her father-in-law was a dentist and professor at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, her oldest son is a physician, her middle son is a dentist and her daughter is attending the University of Alabama with a major in pre-health and chemistry. She also has a sister-in-law who is a Psychiatrist and a daughter-in-law who is an Emergency Department Physician.
Dr. Kentros has trained in the FUT PLUS hair transplant technique pioneered by Dr. Shory and is very interested in the education of her patients in how to have the healthiest and most natural appearing hair. Hair health can be impacted by many factors such as nutrition, stress, genetic factors, medications and products applied to hair.
